[eltd_dropcaps type=”normal” color=”” background_color=””]I[/eltd_dropcaps]t has officially been fall for about a week and I’ve already featured several posts highlighting this beautiful season, right in sync with hundreds of bloggers, stylist, and designers who have flooded their social media with their favorite fall styles. From booties, denim, scarves, and sweaters, fall is the time of year to have some fun with colors and layers. To make sure you get the most out of your wardrobe this season, I’ve created my Fall Blueprint, highlighting the must have items for fall and some great places to find them. Let’s get started.
Colors
Mustard is a color that while it may work in other seasons, fall is definitely its moment to shine. You can pair mustard with just about any popular fall color and it will compliment it very well, but still make a very distinct statement that you woke up this morning with the goal of dressing for fall.
Modcloth – I Glam Hardly Believe It Jacket
Modcloth – Once Upon a Thyme Coat
Browns and Burgundy
I couldn’t decide between these two colors because they are both major players in my fall wardrobe and they should be in yours as well. Besides from being perfect “moody” colors, they are both very sophisticated and work well from the office to weekend vibes.
Lulus – Solstice Burgundy Print Hooded Poncho
Nasty Gal – Foggy Notion Chunky Sweater
Accessories
Scarves and Belts
I’m normally not huge on accessories, but scarves just so happen to be the one exception to this rule. From big dramatic scarves with prints and texture, to more simple solid colors, wearing a scarf is an easy way to add a touch more to your outfit. Even better, you can literally find affordable scarves this time of year everywhere (Marshalls and Target easy!).
For belts, I thrift, thrift, and thrift some more. This time of year you can go to almost any thrift store and find some very uniquely designed belts. Since I love gold accents, I tend to gravitate towards belts with a gold buckle, but I also love to find ones with big dramatic buckles that will stand out against a pair of simple dark denims.
Fall Staples
Blazers and Booties
I’ve talked about my love for blazers in my most recent posts Crisp City Nights and Autumn Color Combo, as well as in one of my very first post The Classic Blazer and Denim. They are the easiest to style, can be worn in so many different looks, and require the least amount of effort. As the weather gets chillier, I would recommend having one go-to blazer that is a little heavier than usual, is a solid basic color with a stylish cut, and transitions well from day to night. While I tend to buy blazers from everywhere, here’s one that I have my eye on at the moment:
ASOS – Double Breasted Blazer in Pinstripe
A good bootie can certainly take you places. I’ve definitely styled booties year-round, but fall offers the opportunity to get the most out of this signature shoe. To get started, I would opt for a chestnut colored bootie for everyday looks as well as a printed pair when looking to add a little touch of extra.
Distressed Denim
Last but not least, a pair of boyfriend, distressed denims will add the finishing touch to your fall wardrobe. Besides from being extremely comfortable and easy to style, distressed denims are perfect for the moody weather of fall.
Zara – Relaxed Fit Ripped Jeans
There are endless ways to express your personal fall style, my hope is that this blueprint will give you the perfect jumpstart to do so. Let me know in the comments what you would add to this list!
